Installation paths for the PAM Server

This section covers:

Installation procedure

From release version 7.0.0 of Osirium PAM you are able to deploy the PAM Server to either function as a standalone server or deploy and configure a group of servers to work together as a cluster.

The method for deploying and configuring a standalone server has not changed but will include the clustering components should you wish to use the clustering feature in the future. The installation instructions for a standalone deployment can be found here.

To cluster your environment you will need more than one PAM Server. We recommend that you have a minimum of three servers in your cluster to allow for redundancy. The first server deployed, although at this stage it is just a standalone server, will be identified as the cluster leader node. This is because the first server created will be responsible for generating the cluster joining bundles which will allow all subsequent servers to join the cluster you are creating. These subsequent servers joining the cluster will be known as follower nodes.

The installation procedure you follow will differ depending on whether you want to implement a standalone or a cluster.

Select the appropriate heading below to follow the correct steps for your installation requirements. Once the installation steps have been completed you will have access to the Admin Interface where you can start to manage and administer your privilege access to devices.

Note

The first server deployed will automatically be recognised as the leader node whether you intend to continue as a standalone or cluster. If you are creating a cluster then the leader node will provide the cluster joining bundle to enable all subsequent servers to join the cluster as follower nodes.

Steps for installing a standalone PAM Server

You will need to complete the following steps in order to deploy a standalone server. Click on the links in order to navigate to the relevant instructions for each step required to complete the installation and configuration.

  1. The first step will be to deploy the software package into your infrastructure.

The steps will vary depending upon the chosen supported infrastructure, therefore click on the appropriate link below to be navigated to the correct deployment steps.

    Deploy using VMware vSphere
    Deploy using Microsoft Azure
    Deploy using Microsoft Hyper-V
    Deploy using Amazon Web Services

  2. Configuration of the standalone PAM Server
The next step will be to run through the system configuration setup.
  3. System configuration
The last step required to complete the installation and to start using the PAM Server is to upload a valid licence. This is done by logging onto the Admin Interface which can be accessed through the UI.

This completes the installation and allows you to start managing and administering your Osirum PAM.

Steps for installing your servers as a cluster

You will need to complete the following steps to deploy the servers to operate as a cluster. Click on the links in order to navigate to the relevant instructions for each step required to complete the installation, configuration and clustering.

Deploying a cluster leader node

  1. The first step will be to deploy the software package into your infrastructure.

The steps will vary depending upon the chosen supported infrastructure, therefore click on the appropriate link below to be navigated to the correct deployment steps.

    Deploy using VMware vSphere
    Deploy using Microsoft Azure
    Deploy using Microsoft Hyper-V
    Deploy using Amazon Web Services

  2. Configuration of the leader node
The next step will be to run through the system configuration setup.
  3. System configuration
The last step required to complete the installation and to start using the PAM Server is to upload a valid licence. This is done by logging onto the Admin Interface which can be accessed through the UI.

This completes the installation and allows you to start managing and administering your Osirium PAM. You are now ready to add a follower node to your cluster.

Deploying and joining a follower node to your cluster

  1. The first step will be to deploy the software package into your infrastructure.

The steps will vary depending upon the chosen supported infrastructure, therefore click on the appropriate link below to be navigated to the correct deployment steps.

    Deploy using VMware vSphere
    Deploy using Microsoft Azure
    Deploy using Microsoft Hyper-V
    Deploy using Amazon Web Services

  2. Configuration of a cluster follower node
The next step will be to run through the system configuration setup of the follower.
  3. Repeat the above steps for each follower node you want to add to your cluster.

Once you have finished adding your follower nodes you will need to log onto each of the servers (leader and followers) using the UI, open the Admin Interface and configure any system settings and configuration.

Note

To manage and administer your privilege access to devices you should be logged onto the Admin Interface of the cluster leader.
