Osirium to highlight security issues in utilising the cloud

Reading, UK – 11 January 2018: Osirium Technologies plc, (AIM: OSI.L), a UK headquartered cyber-security Software-as-a-Service (“SaaS”) provider, has today announced that Andy Harris, CTO, at Osirium has been invited to present at the Digital Health Cloud Summit in London.

Held on January 24th, this one-day conference will provide senior healthcare leaders, including CCIOs, CIOs and other decision-makers, with referenceable insight from the NHS and partners into how to successfully deploy cloud-based services in UK healthcare.  Andy’s presentation slot is 14:10-14:40.

In order to drive awareness of security issues associated with utilising cloud technologies, Andy will focus on why making cybersecurity ‘everyone’s problem’ is in fact an unworkable approach in pressured environments.  He will also debate why, and how, cybersecurity and authentication methods place high cognitive load on NHS staff and explain what solutions will help decrease that load.

“It’s not just about how cloud services do the obvious like reduce costs, but also about how they can make it much easier to deal with ongoing maintenance schedules, such as the cybersecurity patch cycle,” said Andy Harris, CTO at Osirium.  “Businesses also need to understand how the cloud adapts application security and creates a need for cloud to cloud integration.  I believe the best method is to assume that all workstations are compromised and plan for how to mitigate this.”

In a long and distinguished career including being Technical Director at Integralis, Andy has invented many leading-edge technologies including IP Network Translation Gateway, Print Symbiont Technologies for LAN-based printers and Disaster Master, a technique of continuously updating a backup site with mirrored data.

As one of the Co-Founders and CTO of MIMEsweeper, he was the creator of the world’s first content security solution which became the default product in its space.  He then went on to start WebBrick Systems.  Whilst serving as Osirium’s Engineering Director, Andy created and patented several core components in the Osirium product family.
