Information for EPM Users
EPM is a privileged endpoint management solution that allows users to run programs or processes as an administrator without needing a local administrator account. EPM operates with two core features to allow you to stay productive without a local administrator account, elevations of particular programs allowed by company policy are Policy based Elevations and in cases where a required elevation of rights is not explicitly covered by company policy, EPM has a request-response system to grant Temporary Admin Rights for a period of time.
Policy based Elevations
Programs and processes you need to run with administrator rights on a day-to-day basis will be covered by policies created by your IT team. In order to run a program as an administrator with EPM, you’ll see a new option in your right-click context menu.
To elevate a program with EPM, simply choose Run as administrator using EPM.
If a you are allowed to proceed, you'll see a UAC prompt asking for administrator credentials. Instead of fetching a set of administrator credentials, you should enter your own credentials. You'll then proceed running the process as administrator.
or If you're not allowed to elevate the process , you'll be provided with details to contact a EPM Administrator for assistance.
In cases where you’ve tried to run a program that is not covered by policy, you’ll be presented with the details of how to request a policy from your IT team.
Temporary Administrator Rights
In cases where you need to run a program that is not covered by policy, or you need to carry out other actions requiring administrator rights on your workstation, such as configuring your network settings, you’ll be able to request temporary administrator rights. This feature can be used while completely offline, allowing you to stay productive while away from the office.
- Locate and run the EPM application to request temporary administrator rights.
- You’ll be provided with the details of how to request a temporary admin code from your IT team. This code can only be used once and can be used at any time after being issued.
- After entering the code you’ll be granted temporary administrator rights for a period of time
Warning
All elevations made during this period will be recorded and logged.
