Task Error Reporting

Overview

If a task fails in PPA, it is possible to download & or send task error reports via email.

This page covers each of the ways task error reports can be used.

Download Report

To download an error report, click the "Download Error Report" in the task failed banner.

All users with access to the task will be able to do this, there are no prerequisites.

You will be able to choose whether to include the:

• Log file
• Task playbook

At least one of these options must be selected!

To enable the Send Error Report button, read the send report & task interface sections below.

Send Report

Error reports can be sent by users, or by schedules that have reporting enabled.

Prerequisites

In order to send task error reports you will need to configure SMTP first.

Configuration

Error reports are always sent to a set of one or more email recipients.

These recipients can be set up on the Configuration page in the Tasks area.

Task Interface

Once the configuration is complete, the Send Error Report button will be enabled.

Schedule

Error reports can be sent automatically by a schedule if its task fails.

To do this, the schedule will need to have Automatic Error Reporting option enabled.

Error reports sent by schedules will always include both the task log & playbook.
